Akos’ Salon & Shop

Akos has made the most of a small wooden kiosk to support herself and her two young children. Half of the small space is a store, while the other half serves as her salon. When she’s not busy styling hair, she works as a seamstress or makes Indomi noodles, minerals, sweets and other treats to sell.

The fruits of her hard work are channeled into putting her children through school, and into materializing her vision of styling hair full time in her own salon outside the kiosk.

Her main challenges are lack of access to equipment, and some of the fears that come with navigating adversity and becoming an entrepreneur. So what she most enjoys about working with LOVE are the boosts of confidence she gets through skills training and opportunities to get new tools. These are the stepping stones she intends to use in building her clientele, and in the longer run, her salon.
